Frequently Asked Questions

What is a GOTEENISRAEL Access grant?

Federation CJA’s GOTEENISRAEL Access Grant is an income-based program offering eligible families up to $1,800 USD towards a 2024 summer Israel trip experience.

Are there important deadlines to keep in mind?

Yes. Applications for a GOTEENISRAEL voucher must be submitted before the registration deadline of May 1st, 2024. Federation CJA’s GOTEENISRAEL Access Grant application is now open. Please note funding is limited, and grants are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

How is income eligibility determined?

Income eligibility is based on your annual household gross income— as indicated on your Revenu Québec Notice of Assessment.

I’m divorced, and/or my partner and I file our tax returns separately. What do I do?

If only one parent bears responsibility for your child, then only that parent/guardian’s information should be included. However, if both parents/guardians share responsibility, then both households should be combined when completing the eligibility survey and when submitting proof for confirmation.

Will my information be kept confidential?

Your information is strictly confidential and will not be shared with any third party or organization. Any financial or personal information provided to the Federation CJA will only be used to determine eligibility and will not be shared with any entity for any purpose. However, data will be accumulated on a no-names basis for the entire program. Children’s names and grant amounts will be shared only with the selected Israel trip provider administrators to ensure program integrity.

Will I be asked to submit proof of income?

Yes. Once your application is approved, you will be asked to upload a copy of both parents’ most recent Notice of Assessment through our secured website to verify your income. Please note that acceptance into Federation CJA’s GOTEENISRAEL Access Grant program is dependent upon receipt of a copy of your filed Revenu Québec Notice of Assessment.

Up to $1,800 USD Grant

The Eligibility Calculator says that I am eligible. What do I need to do now?

If the Eligibility Calculator says you may be eligible for Federation CJA’s GOTEENISRAEL Access Grant, you will need to create an account and a profile before you can submit an application (If you have applied to the Tuition CAPS program or a CAMPS Access Grant, you may use the same account to apply.) All returning and new applicants must complete the application form to be deemed eligible. Your application will then be assessed according to your verified income, as stated on your most recent Revenu Québec Notice of Assessment, and your acceptance as a recipient of Federation CJA’s GOTEENISRAEL or DALFEN FELLOWS voucher has been confirmed.

The calculator says I am not eligible – what does it mean, and what is the recourse?

The Eligibility Calculator will inform you that you are not eligible for Federation CJA’s GOTEENISRAEL Access Grant if your gross household income does not fall within the program’s criteria. If you are not deemed eligible, other financial assistance may be available. Please contact your selected Israel trip providers.

How will I know if my family has been selected for Federation CJA’s GOTEENISRAEL Access Grant?

Once your application is submitted, you will receive an e-mail confirming your preliminary GOTEENISRAEL Access Grant for the selected 2024 Israel trip. You will be notified by e-mail to submit your most recent Revenu Québec Notice of Assessment. Your grant will be confirmed with your selected Israel trip provider upon confirmation of your income and acceptance as a recipient of Federation CJA’s GOTEENISRAEL or DALFEN FELLOWS voucher.

What if I don’t submit my Revenu Québec Notice of Assessment by the requested date?

You will not be eligible. Your family’s eligibility for the program is dependent on the verification of the Revenu Québec Notices of Assessment for both parents.

Can I benefit from other financial assistance in addition to Federation CJA’s GOTEENISRAEL Access Grant?

Yes. Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for additional financial assistance. Contact your Israel trip provider of your choice.

Is my grant taxable?

It is our understanding that the grant is not a taxable benefit. However, all users are recommended to obtain independent tax advice.

How do I find out the value of my grant?

The anonymous Eligibility Calculator will provide an instant preliminary result with the value of your grant. If the calculator deems that you may be eligible, you must create an account and a profile before you can submit an application. (If you have applied for the Tuition CAPS program or a CAMPS Access Grant, you may use the same account to apply for a GOTEENISAREL Access Grant).

After completing the application form, you will receive a notification by email. Final grant eligibility will be determined pending confirmation of your income on your most recent Revenu Québec Notice of Assessment and your child’s acceptance in the Federation CJA’s GOTEENISRAEL or DALFEN FELLOWS voucher. Your grant will be confirmed with your selected Israel trip provider.

How will my GOTEENISRAEL Access Grant be decided?

Your grant is decided based on a simple calculation of your gross household income.

What happens if I am a GOTEENISRAEL or DALFEN FELLOWS voucher recipient and I need to cancel my program participation before the summer?

Federation CJA’s GOTEENISRAEL /DALFEN FELLOWS vouchers and FCJA’s GOTEENISRAEL Access Grant covers program costs on the recipient’s behalf. As such, those funds are considered the recipient’s financial obligation to the trip provider partner if their participation is cancelled beyond the refund deadline.

What happens if I am a GOTEENISRAEL or DALFEN FELLOWS voucher recipient and the trip provider cancels the trip?

For GOTEENISRAEL voucher recipients: If the trip is cancelled, the funds will not be disbursed, and the teen must reapply for the GOTEENISRAEL voucher for summer 2025.

For a DALFEN FELLOWS voucher recipient: If the trip is cancelled, a DALFEN FELLOWS voucher recipient currently in grades 9 or 10 will have access to their DALFEN FELLOWS voucher exclusively for summer 2025.  A DALFEN FELLOWS voucher recipient currently in grade 11, will not have access to the voucher as they will have aged out of our eligibility requirements for summer 2025.
